Day 7 (Saturday, June 2): From Boston to Ellsworth, Maine

Driving distance for the day: 319.6 Miles
Cumulative distance: 1220.9 Miles

We actually returned to Boston on the previous day. On this day it started raining. We headed north to Maine and was able to get just a little ahead of the rain clouds. By the time we reached Acadia National Park, we were out of the rain, but the sky was still heavily overcast.

We made various stops, one of which is Schooner Head Overlook. Seven years earlier, we made the stop at the same location on a similar road trip to New England and I took a picture from the same vantage point (the third picture). See how much difference the weather makes!

Another stop we made was at Sandy Beach.

And another place is Thunder Hole, where the crashing waves make deafening sounds among the rocks.

Our visit to the national park was rather brief and we made a stop for dinner at Bar Harbor before returning to Ellsworth where we stayed for the night.
