2022 trip to Greece
In late May and early June, 2022, we took a semi-"island hopping" trip to Greece.
This page is still under construction.
I saw "semi-island hopping" because, first, we spent a big portion of the trip in Athens on the mainland; secondly, in my view, true "island hopping" trips exclusively, or at least primarily, rely on ferries for transportation between islands. In our itinerary (see below), we actually only used ferries two times; we flew more times than taking ferries to get around. Regardless, it was an amazing trip and our itinerary worked perfectly -- for us.
Here's a breakdown of our itinerary:
- May 28 - May 29: United Airlines flight IAD-BRU-RHO, arriving in Rhodes (in the evening)
- May 29 - June 2: Rhodes, with day trip (by bus) to Lindos on May 31
- June 2: Aegean Airlines flight RHO-ATH-JTR, arriving in Santorini
- June 2 - June 4: Santorini
- June 4: Seajets ferry from Santorini to Heraklion (late afternoon)
- June 4 - June 6: Heraklion, with day trip to Knossos Palace on June 5
- June 6: bus from Heraklion to Chania
- June 6 - June 9: Chania, with day trip (by bus) to Rethymno on June 8
- June 9: Aegean Airlines flight CHQ-ATH, arriving in Athens (in the evening)
- June 9 - June 13: Athens, with day trip (by ferry) to Poros and Hydra on June 12
- June 13: United Airlines flight ATH-IAD (midday)
At the time being (July 12, 2022), this page is still under construction. It will take me some time to go through the thousands of pictures I took; in particular, I have so far posted very few pictures of:
- museum exhibits (there are lots of these in Greece, some truly unique and amazing)
- church and historical building interior (there are lots of these in Greece too)
- people and food
that we saw during this trip. And certainly, the narrative can be enriched. Stay tuned and check back on this page in the future.
