This would be our last day in Perce, and it was a reluctant departure. In the morning I walked from our motel to the pier again. The coast of the Gaspe Peninsular was glorious in the morning sun, and the sleeping town that I became so fond of looked even lovelier.
And the Cape Blanc Light House which we had not had a chance to visit, looked aloof in the distance.
In the early morning there were many birds on the water around the pier, such as these Harlequin Ducks.
There were also many birds in the air, such as these dainty Black-legged Kittwakes.
And of course the Northern Gannets, who in their signature move, dove as torpedos into the water to catch fish.
But we had to leave shortly after breakfast. Two weeks on the road and Perce was the zenith, the apex, of our trip. We still had a few more days on the road, but the tide was receding already. Reluctantly, we started our long way back home.
The weather was getting worse and worse. When we stopped at Cap des Rosiers Lighthouse (Cape of Roses), the tallest lighthouse in Canada, the sky was already overcast. It then starting rainning off and on until we reached the city of Rimouski.

We followed the contour of the Gaspe Peninsula and rounded from the Gulf side to the River side (both of St. Lawrence). At this point the weather was worsening -- the sky lost its crispness and clouds were piling up.
We made a rather brief stop in Forillon National Park. Although pressed for time, we managed to take a short hike to the lovely cascading La Chute (The Waterfall).
