San Francisco
We spent a work week in San Francisco (and we were really working hard!). But in late Friday afternoon we managed to spend a few hours in downtown San Francisco and Fisherman's Wharf. (Click on each image to see the high-resolution version)
There were many Brewer's Blackbirds in town. They are just urban pests here. But that's the nice thing about going to a different place: they are a new bird for me (I most certainly had seen them before as this was my 6th or 7th trip to San Francisco, but I did not start counting birds until rather recently). There were also some escaped Red-masked Parakeets in the palm trees along the Embarcadero.
Finally, we were at Fisherman's Wharf.
The most famous residents are undoubtedly the sea lions at Pier 39. During previous trips I had seen many of them, but this time there were just a few.
There were other wildlife too, such as this Western Gull.
It was a pleasant, if brief, walk in the charming city of San Francisco, but more was still to come as we would take California 1 north the next day and head for the Pacific Coast.
