Road Trip Day 3: Coos Bay to Portland

Again it was a dreary day, rather disappointing as we started going north along the Oregon Coast. This was my third trip to Oregon and it rained every single time. But the Oregon Coast is really one of the most beautiful places in the world, I am sure we will be back again.

On this cloudy and occasionally rainy day, we turned out attention more toward wildlife. This was the nesting season for many seabirds, such as the cliff-dwelling Pigeon Guillemot.

Near Sea Lion Caves (not the "Caves" themselves which are sadly commercialized) we saw many sea lions resting on the rocks. Although we had seen the rescued sea lions in San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf, it was even better to see them in their natural habitat.

There were some amazing formations along the coast, such as "Devil's Punchbowl".

At this location, there were many squirrels (I think they are California Ground Squirrels), which are not afraid of people at all.

We drove all the way to Cannon Beach, then veered to the east to arrive at our destination Portland.
