Brazos Bend State Park
Brazos Bend State Park is the surest place to see herons, egrets and ibises, as well as Anhingas, cormorants and waterfowl. With my short vacation dwindling to an end, I made a very quick 2-hour trip to this park. This turned out to be 2 hours bonanza of bird photography session. Brazos Bend is also known for its alligators. This being mating season, many male alligators were making very loud bellowing noises to stake out their territories and attract mates. Mating season can get pretty violent, apparently, as you can see in the following picture that this alligator has lost its right front leg.
