On this day most of what we did was … driving. We drove nearly 500 miles and passed 9 states: Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Although there are many sites to visit along the way, we made few stops. After all, we only had a finite amount of time, and my “road trip philosophy” is that I generally want to go as far as I can on the first day, then take a more leisurely pace afterwards. This way we will enter new territory as soon as we can. We can always console ourselves that the more nearby places we can always visit in the future.

By late afternoon we arrived in the great city of Boston. I just snapped a few pictures through the hotel window.

Boston Downtown

Our spirits were high at the beginning of this road trip. Cape Cod, Acadia, Bay of Fundy, Quebec .. all these places are within reach now.
