Mount Hood
This was my fourth visit to Portland (see my second and third times on separate pages, the first time being back in the last millenium and in my "film days"), yet the first time I have seen Mount Hood, Oregon's highest peak, which was shrouded in clouds and fog last few times.

On this day we took a delightful hike to Mirror Lake, although the lake was crinkled by a gentle brezze, the view of Mount Hood was clear and awe-inspiring.

We later went to Trillium Lake, an impoundment mainly for water utilization and recreation. It was crowded at the lake, but the view of Mount Hood was even closer and clearer. Finally I could cross this off from my bucket list.

I was also delighted to see a Redhead (duck) in the lake, and some beautiful Northern Bluet damselflies around the lake.

It seemed like all my sins were forgiven in Portland this time -- the week or so I spent in Portland had beautiful weather every day. During that week, I took a few walks in the city. One day I walked to the International Rose Test Garden and Japanese Garden. I think the Japanese Garden is overpriced, but it has probably the best view of Mount Hood from this part of town.

On another day, I walked to the OHSU campus. The upper tram station has the best view of Mount Hood, Mount St. Helens, etc. And I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the down-going tram ride is even free! This was quite a wonderful visit.
