Whales!

As I mentioned this year (2014) is an year of extraordinarily abundance of whales, especially along the Pacific Coast of North America. We went to the Monterey Bay and took a whale-watching boat tour to see them. To be honest, the boat ride was shorter than I expected (just over 2 hours), but we did see quite a few Humpback Whales feeding in the bay, sometimes tail-flapping and breaching. I had seen whales before in the wild (in the Gulf of St. Lawrence on our 2012 trip to Northeast USA and Canada), but this was the first time I "got them" in pictures.

Because of the constantly turning and rocking motion of the boat, it was difficult to frame shots. These are the best ones I've got. I hope I will get another chance to see other species of whales and better pictures.

P.S.: if you like whales, you should check out the book The Grandest of Lives: Eye to Eye with Whales by Douglas H. Chadwick.
